The Architect
Melvin Villarroel
Born in La Paz, Bolivia, he obtained the title of Architecture and Urban Planning and Bachelor of Physics at the Catholic University of Santiago de Chile, and taught there for a few years before settling on the Costa del Sol in 1974. He has developed projects in Europe, USA, Latin America and Asia.
"Architecture of the Void"
This concept, created by the architect and developed in the book of the same name, is the backbone of his philosophy. Villarroel, a philosopher of space and form, opens up the architectural space from a solid to a void, and permits nature to flow into the void. His concept is the "integral design", where he combines with success the sophistication and the rationality of technology and the architectural designs of the twenty first century, with the vernacular tradition of the place in which the project is being built, principally where he resides and works -Marbella, Andalucía.
Marina del Este, Hotel Marbella Club, La Alcazaba, Puente Romano, Alhambra del Mar, Gran Hotel Abama, Torre Bermeja, Sierra Blanca, Menara Beach, Fair Lakes and Mansions are some of his award-winning projects.
